Water deironing

Water deironing

Vandens nugeležinimas

Water deironing or deironing filters are used when water contains increased levels of iron, sulphur hydrogen, manganese or it contains a lot of mechanical impurities. However, only detailed water tests can help you determine which deironing filter to choose, and whether any additional equipment is necessary.

Since there is currently no universal economically valid iron removal method, it can be stated that water deironing is one of the most difficult processes of water purification. Often, several water quality issues must be solved at the same time, therefore it is very important to select a complex, economical and reliable water purification solution. UAB LT Aqua company works all over Lithuania, therefore we are able to come to you to collect a sample necessary for the water tests, as well as provide consultations on site regarding the space required for a water deironing filter. We will also perform water tests by delivering your water sample to the laboratory. This will enable us to save your time and money when searching for filters and thinking about which water deironing filter to choose.

Deironing filters with oxidation tank

The purpose of filters is to collect bivalent iron dissolved in water, sulphur hydrogen, manganese and mechanical impurities. This is carried out using the aeration principle. Compressed air against the filtering system is sent to the water supply line and mixed with iron-saturated water with the help of a static mixer. Mixture of water and air enters the oxidation tank where, due to oxidation, bivalent iron transforms into trivalent iron, forming iron-hydroxide compounds (rust) (Fe² → Fe³). The latter are held together with other mechanical impurities when water is filtered through a special bulk rock medium in the filter. Renewal of the filtering medium (rinsing) is carried out according to a selected time interval when water consumption is the lowest. During rinsing, the filtering medium is flushed with a reversed water flow and all insoluble particles, as well as trivalent iron hydroxide compounds are removed from the medium into drainage. Deironing filters also have the ability to reduce the amount of manganese and sulphur hydrogen in water.

Automatinis mechaninis filtras

Automatic mechanical filter

The purpose of this filter is to collect mechanical particles in the water. Water is filtered mechanically when passing through the filter medium. The filter is automatically rinsed according to the programmed frequency of rinsing. This filter can also hold a small amount of iron.

Equipment set

The system is equipped with a fully automatic control valve WS1EI. Manufacturer Clack  Corporation, USA. Its principle of operation, structure, control and settings are provided in the user manual.

The “foundation” of the filtering equipment is comprised of a standard 8×44 frame made of polyethylene and threaded with fiberglass. Manufacturer Clack Corporation, USA. The product complies with the hygiene, safety and technological requirements.
Filtering medium: quartz sand and anthracite of various structure, density and size.

Reagent deironing filter with potassium permanganate

The purpose of these filters is to collect bivalent iron and manganese dissolved in water. This is carried out using a special medium whose surface is activated with a potassium permanganate solution. When iron-saturated water is passing through this medium, all
the iron and manganese are deposited on its surface. The medium is regenerated at night with a potassium permanganate solution whose amount is prepared automatically. This deironing technology is used in cases when water has a yellowish tint, an unpleasant swamp smell, or contains large amounts of manganese.
